Encaustic Lily

I have a new tool for my encaustic paintings. I’ve switched to using a torch instead of a heat gun to fuse the wax layers -it leaves a much nicer surface and gives a lot more control over the wax. I used cheesecloth on some areas of the petals to add an interesting texture. Still working on this and several others that I’ve already posted. Being able to remove the wax and pigment and lay it down again may be the worst thing for me – I’ll be working on these pieces forever!

This was painted from a photo that I usually use as my avatar/profile picture.
