Playing with Wax

I’ve moved my studio to a different room that has lovely, clear northern light. Here are my latest encaustic paintings – oil paint embedded in beeswax. All that’s needed is ventilation and a large griddle to melt the wax. When the wax reaches 200 degrees the paint is ready to dip into and spread on encaustic board with brushes. Then the wax and oil pigments can be moved around with a mini butane torch which creates the swirls of color that I love!
