This is a photo manipulation in progress. It’s really a challenge for me to settle on one particular direction to go in when there are endless possibilities. So for now my photo model (who happens to be my daughter) has golden eyes and neon red hair.
I’m using a method known as ‘vexelling’ which results in a vexel image. You can describe a vexel as a combination of a raster and vector style. The look is meant to look like vector art which is created with shapes, not pixels. The method used to create this vexel look however, is through the use of a raster tool such as Photoshop. Using the pen tool to create paths and employing many, many layers, you build up the image using shadows, light, tones, and colors.
The fun comes with using your brushes and textures to create a surreal look. I tend to create folders with layers that contain specific features. With the click of cursor, I can switch out colors of hair, eyes, skin, without changing the textures, shapes, or shadows, etc.
